Wild Whig Rose (Conference Class)
Warm-Up Supply List | Supply List

Come join me on the prairie for another fun-filled, stress-free weekend of appliqué and great fellowship! This year we'll be making my “wild” version of the traditional “Whig Rose.” This block works well as a medallion center for a quilt or just add a border for a delightful wall hanging. You could also reduce the design a bit and use it in an album quilt.

We'll start out with a techniques workshop** on Thursday evening. You can brush up on your skills or maybe even learn a few new hints. My favorite appliqué method is template-free appliqué but we'll touch on a few other methods as well. And remember, this is stress-free – you can use any appliqué method you prefer, if you don’t like template-free. Well, ok, maybe I’ll make you try a leaf or two using template-free, but then you can switch to your favorite method when I’m not looking...

On Friday, we'll get started on the actual block. I'll work with you step by step throughout the weekend covering all the pitfalls and techniques necessary to complete the pattern. I’ll also provide you with an appliqué border which you can customize by changing the motifs to match other blocks you might like to add to your quilt. We’ll discuss points to ponder when designing a border and look at some examples of what works and what doesn’t work to enhance the overall quilt.

This class is open to all skill levels – I’m an equal ability instructor!

Stitch a little, stitch a lot, design a little, or not - the choice is yours! That's why I call it stress-free – take as much or as little from the class as you'd like. Make new friends, hone your skills, eat some chocolate, laugh a lot -- but most importantly, enjoy sharing this passion we all share for Baltimore Album appliqué!

**$10.00 optional kit fee for the techniques workshop. You can purchase a kit for the technique's workshop with the designs already traced onto fabric for you as well as all the fabric, needles, and threads or I'll give you a supply list for that part.

(This is not a kit for the actual block we will be making - you will need to bring background and appliqué fabrics with you - I'll have a complete supply list for that part.)

Embarrassing disclaimer: You’ll have to check the website later for pictures of the border. It will give you a good excuse the keep coming back to the website!

Baltimore Reel (One Plus Class)
Supply List

Come join me on the prairie for a taste of stress-free appliqué with my interpretation of this traditional favorite. I will share the “template-free” appliqué method, which is perfect for aligning the design elements of this charming 4-block wall hanging. However, this is a stress-free class, so you can use any appliqué method you prefer! We will touch on sharp points, berries and curves as well as “robbing Peter to pay Paul” to find that elusive seam allowance for the finger flowers. I will have an alternate flower for beginners if you don’t feel up to the challenge of the finger flower, as well as an enlarged version of the block if you would like to use it in an album quilt.

Make new friends, hone your skills, eat some chocolate, laugh a lot – but most importantly, enjoy sharing this passion we all share for Baltimore Album appliqué!
